Graphic Design
Banner Social Stunt
Background
To promote the premiere of House of the Dragon season 2 to a wider audience, the marketing team developed a strategy to have a variety of social profiles (for HBO shows, Max shows, NYC landmarks, affiliate brands, etc.) pledge the fealty to Team Green or Team Black by posting a custom banner.
Brief
Design a custom sigil to represent high profile HBO and Max shows, as well as NYC landmarks. The sigil should highlight the main themes and/or iconography of the show or landmark, without sacrificing the in-world feeling that’s true to House of the Dragon.

House Night Sigil
HBO’s True Detective Night Country @truedetective
The sigil shape is inspired by the shape of the police badges that Danvers and Navarro wore and acts as a frame for the scene featuring the polar bear from Danvers’ visions. The polar bear walks atop his reflection/shadow upon the ice to highlight the show’s focus on what lies beneath and represent the ways that each of the characters carries the past with them. Behind the bear is the iconic True Detective swirl the bridges season one with the new season.
House Pierpoint Sigil
HBO’s Industry (@industryhbo)
This sigil features the scrolling numbers of the stock market and crossing bat’s, inspired by the bat that Eric keeps at his desk, to represent the propulsive pace, high stakes, and often combative professional and interpersonal relationships within the show.
House Essex Sigil
Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls (@thesexlivesofcollegegirls)
The sigil shape and layout is inspired by classic academic institution sigils, while simultaneously depicting the balancing act that the characters in the show are living—with icons to represent the competing priorities of education, prestige, and partying that are so characteristic to college life as seen at Essex.
Nouse NYSE Sigil
New York Stock Exchange (@nyse)
This sigil is dominated by a graphic representation of the façade of the NYSE building in the financial district. The perspective of the building within the sigil mimics the experience of looking up at this iconic building from the street below. The sigil is grounded by a banner inspired by the illustrations on the US dollar bill.
