House of Drag

Background

HBO’s Human By Orientation was throwing a premiere party in collaboration with Fagtasia to celebrate the season 2 premiere of the hit show House of the Dragon. The goal was to create a logo and branded social media toolkit that infused the high profile HOTD brand with the spirit of drag and the Brooklyn queer community.

Logo

We used the House of the Dragon logo as the foundation and incorporated a disco ball to bring the high profile brand into the drag and New York City ballroom scene. Rather than replace the letter O with a disco ball, we opted to build it into the signature House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones brand O to create a custom icon for the event that felt as though it existed firmly within both the drag and Westerosi worlds.

Process

I created the initial proof-of-concept mock for the logo and then worked with a 3D designer (Tom Haskard) who brought the final iteration to life.

Social Media Brand Kit

Again building off of the established House of the Dragon brand, with a bit of added glitz, we created borders, overlays, and gifs for the marketing team to use during the event to create branded instagram stories for HBO’s handle @HumanbyOrienation.
